ASPIRE - After-School Program for Identity, Relationships and Enrichment

As the new YES Prep ASPIRE (After-School Program for Identity, Relationships and Enrichment) Coordinator, I would like to give you 3 reasons you should enroll your child. ​

1. Academic Support – Studies found that more than 40% of students attending afterschool programs improved their reading and math grades​

2. Social & Emotional Learning – Students learn to build relationships with students and adults, which leads to positive feelings and attitude toward school.​

3. Safety – Students are in a supervised learning environment  that promotes personal safety and decreases risky behaviors such as drug & alcohol abuse, but also creates an environment where they learn skills not normally taught during the school day​

Activities Coming: Strength & Conditioning workouts, Soccer, Volleyball, Art, Theater, Dance, Yearbook, Photography, Book Club, NWHTV and more​.

• Application handout - 1/14, Friday
• Student Application Deadline - 1/18, Tuesday
• Mandatory Parent Meeting - 1/20 @ 5:30 PM, Thursday | Virtual Meeting
• Program Start Date - 1/24

Skyward & Family Portal - Grades

Q2 Report Cards are available via Skyward.

We encourage all families to have open communication with their child's teacher through our Family Portal. Family Portal help HERE.

Importance of Attendance:

It is very important for students to be at school every day. Our official State of Texas attendance is taken at 9:15 each morning, and these attendance numbers are what determines our school funding.  Please help us by ensuring that students are on campus each day by the start of classes at 8:30, and especially no later than 9:15.

Down Syndrome Family Connections Group

We are excited to share about a new opportunity for YES Prep families!  Starting in January, we will have a monthly gathering for all families with children who have Down Syndrome.  This will be a special opportunity for families to meet each other and share support, encouragement, resources, and celebrations related to our unique and amazing kids.  Our first meeting will be Tuesday, January 25 in the evening, with dinner and childcare provided.  If you are interested, please contact sydney.boule@gmail.com.   

We believe deeply that our students and families with Down Syndrome are valued members of our community, and we cannot wait for the opportunity to know and serve you better!
