Title I and Meet the Principal

What: Title I and Meet the Principal
When: Thursday, November 18
Time: Two Options available
- 1) 9:00AM on campus OR 2) 4:30PM virtually via TEAMS

Our Title I meetings are held annually to ensure parents and family members are aware of their rights and responsibilities in the education of their children. In this meeting you'll also be able to learn more about our Principal, Laura Dugan.

We are providing two separate opportunities for families to join, families do not have to attend both. We welcome families to join us on campus (14741 Yorktown Plaza Dr., Houston for our 9 AM meeting OR families can choose join us virtually in the evening at 4:30 PM via TEAMS.

Burger Sale - Fundraiser

We will be selling burgers during lunch time for students to purchase on Monday, November 15, the cost will be $10. We revealed on our social media that we'll be selling WHATABURGER!

Students had the opportunity to purchase tickets between Tuesday-Friday to secure their burger for Monday. There will be limited supplies available on Monday, it is not guaranteed that all students will be able to purchase.

When: Monday, November 15
Time: Lunch time
How to Purchase: Students with a ticket will be able to pick up their burger during lunch time. Students who did not purchase in advance, will still be able to purchase until supplies runs out.
What's the fundraiser for: All proceeds will go back to student/staff event celebrations.

Refer a Family

Our Lottery for the 2022-2023 has officially opened! We are asking for our current HAWKS Families to help us and refer us any potential new families looking to join a new opportunity, YES Prep Northwest.

If a family lets us know that you referred them to us and the reason they chose to apply to our lottery, we will buy you a pizza! In fact, you'll get a pizza for each family you refer and applies. Please help us out by sharing your love for our school with others and we will keep putting dinner on your table!

If you know of a family interested, but needs to hear from us directly - complete this SURVEY and we will reach out to the family to provide more information.

Celebrate our staff

We are seeking families interested in providing a thanksgiving meal for our staff, we are asking for sides only. We'll be providing staff with a Thanksgiving Meal on Thursday, November 18.

If you are able to graciously donate, feel free to reach out to Marsha Thomas for information or if you can help out.

Food can be dropped off on Thursday, November 18 at the Front Office.

Veterans Day, staff highlight

Our very own Mrs. Burton, ELA 6th and Grade Level Chair, was featured in an article written by our district office. See her feature below:

This year, in honor of Veterans Day, we asked our YES Prep veterans to share a little about themselves and what advice they have for our students considering joining the military after they graduate from YES Prep. Here is what they had to say:

“Enlisting in the military ’is a big step, but so worth it! The military takes care of your health care, dental, dorm housing, education, and you receive so many other benefits! You also learn lifelong skills and build long lasting relationships and friendships with people from various places around the world! There are so many different jobs you can do too! The military is no longer just deployments and artillery. That can be a part of the experience depending on the job, however there are other jobs available as well like human resources, finance, legal, supply, security, loadmasters, medical, and the list goes on! Whether you join for four, six, 12 or 20 years, it is up to you on how long your enlistment is and how long you’d like to stay. I served for four years in and thoroughly enjoyed my enlistment! Do your research, make a goal, contact a recruiter and make it happen. You CAN do it!”

Down Syndrome Family Connections Opportunity

We are excited to share about a new opportunity for Yes Prep families! Starting in January, we will have a monthly gathering for all families with children who have Down Syndrome. This will be a special opportunity for families to meet each other and share support, encouragement, resources, and celebrations related to our unique and amazing kids. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, January 25 in the evening, with dinner and childcare provided. If you are interested, please contact sydney.boule@gmail.com. We believe deeply that our students and families with Down Syndrome are valued members of our community, and we cannot wait for the opportunity to know and serve you better!
