Common Assessments Oct 10-12

Common Assessments are coming up in 10 days! We encourage you to tell your students to be prepared for these exams as they can only help their grades.

Students are expected to be present for these exams on October 10-12. To learn more about our assessments on campus, click here: https://www.yesprep.org/families/student-assessments

Student IDs

All students should have received their permanent IDs by now, it is always the expectation for students to wear their IDs at all times during the school day. We enforce IDs for safety, we must be able to identify all personnel and students on campus.

We will begin enforcing our fees and consequences for student IDs beginning next week, October 3.

Fees:

  • $5 - Replacement ID, this will include plastic cover and lanyard

Consequences:

  • Scenario #1: Don’t have ID on/around the neck but it is in a pocket or in a backpack.

    • Consequence: Fixable uniform violation and will follow the normal level 1 discipline format: demerit, demerit, escalated consequence.

      • Students will earn a safety demerit. After the 3rd/6th/9th demerit, the student will receive an escalated consequence – parent phone call, detention, parent meeting.

  • Scenario #2: Forgot ID at home/ID is not on campus

    • Consequence: Unfixable uniform violation and student will earn an automatic after-school detention that will be issued by the GLC or leadership team member.

      • Students should be sent immediately to the temp ID station (before 8:30am) or the front office (after 8:30am) to receive temp ID.

  • Scenario #3: Lost ID

    • Consequence: Unfixable uniform violation and student will have to pay $5 for a new Student should be sent immediately to the front office to receive temp ID and make $5 payment.

      • IDs should be available from the front office within 24-48 hours. The front office team will either call students to the front office to pick up ID or deliver it to their homeroom teacher.

Attendance Notice

We must notify families when a student misses a certain amount of school, if you received a letter from us this week (or next) - this is a notice for your records. There are two possible actions you can take:

  1. Provide the school with an excuse note on the days your student was absent
  2. If you believe the absence is an error, email askypnorthwest@yesprep.org or call the front office to notify
    • You may also review students attendance via Skyward!

Attendance matters, ensure the student is present and on time daily. We understand an array of situations can happen that can prevent the student from attending, we ask that the student advocates for themselves and get the missing work from their teachers ahead of time or when they return.

School Attendance Policy and Procedures:

  • A student is considered absent when missing 20 minutes of class for any period

  • Families should provide an excuse note once the student returns to campus (the student should turn it into the Front Office)
  • Excuse notes = Doctors/Clinic documentation or the guardian can email (askypnorthwest@yesprep.org) or provide a handwritten letter
    • Excuse note MUST include student's full name, date(s) missed, and the reason for absence

Starting next week, we will be requesting the guardian or individual dropping student off to enter the building when tardy (after 8:30) to sign them in.
